Frog Bikes Releases New “Push the Limits” Line

Frog Bikes Push the Limits LIneFrog Bikes, long one of our favorite brands specializing in kid-specific bicycles, has just announced the release of their new “Push the Limits” line.  The bikes include one hybrid bike and 3 youth-sized mountain bikes.

Frog Bikes MTBs

Frog MTB 62

The “MTB 62″ is a 24” mountain bike, while the “MTB 69” and “MTB 72″ are 26″ mountain bikes with smaller youth-sized frames.  The bikes are marketed for kids between 8-10, 10-12, and 13+.

All three mountain bikes come with an in-house front suspension fork.  The 24″ bike has 65mm of travel, while the 26″ bikes both have 100mm of travel.  Each of the models has Tektro hydraulic disc brakes, Shimano drivetrain, and Kenda tires.

At about 25 pounds each, the Frog bikes are not THE lightest 24″ and 26″ youth mountain bikes, but comparable to other mountain bikes in the same price range.  The closest contenders in terms of price and component builds are the Rocky Mountain Vertex, Orbea MX 24, and Prevelo Zulu 4.

To compare the MTB 62 to other 24” mountain bikes, check out our list of the best 24″ XC mountain bikes for kids.

Frog 78 Hybrid

Frog 78 Hybrid Kids Bike

The Frog 78 is a 26″ youth-sized hybrid bike suitable for young teens.  It is ideal for biking to school or around town, and thanks to the beefy Kenda tires, can also be used for mild off-road riding.  The bike is built up with quality components including Tektro v-brakes and an 8-speed Shimano drivetrain.

While we dig the bike, it’s a couple pounds heavier than the comparable Woom 6 and costs $40 more.
